Cosmetyn Reviews – Is it a Scam?

Stretch mark creams are a dime a dozen and usually pretty costly, so knowing which ones work and which ones don’t is very important when looking to invest in one. The latest cream out right now is a cream that is rated number one by dermatologist called Cosmetyn. Of course the website shows extreme before and after pictures with amazing results…but they all do! So, how are you to know which cream works and which doesn’t? The answers to all your questions lie with in the ingredients. The ingredients determine the success or failure of a product.

Cosmetyn Ingredients

Examining the ingredients of a product will give you a better idea of whether or not the product will be effective at achieving its claims. So let’s take a look at the ingredients in Comestyn:

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide: Is an extremely impressive ingredient! Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is a synthetic peptide, and we know that peptides are the building blocks, or foundation for the bonding of amino acids. And they are also extremely effective at repairing skin damage. Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is quickly becoming one of the most popular ingredients in anti aging skin care. The manufacturers of this particular synthetic peptide tell us that when applied to the skin it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.

The bad news is the only company that has run trials on this product, which is also the company boosting its amazing success, is the company that is responsible for creating it…Proctor and Gamble. This is not to say that the product doesn’t work, theoretically the product should work amazingly, but it would be reassuring to have a second opinion on testing.

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7: Is yet another type of Peptide that has amazing potential to smooth and regenerate the surface layer of skin all while increasing skin elasticity, and tone. The makers of Comestyn claim that this peptide greatly reduces the appearance of stretch marks by making the surface layer of skin thicker.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8: Is also a peptide, however, it is renowned for its ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is actually commonly referred to as topical botox. While this particular peptide has proven effective at reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, I had trouble finding any conclusive results of it on its own treating stretch marks. Although in conjunction with the other peptides in this formula, I am quite sure it boosts its effects.

Rutin: Is an all natural product commonly found in stretch mark creams, and other topical applications to treat other skin aliments. Makers of this cream, and others, claim that it is essential to stretch mark reduction because of its strong ability to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

Phaseolus Lutanus Extract: Trypsin and Chemotrypsin are responsible for destroying certain peptides in the body; Phaseolus Lutanus Extract blocks this synthesis from happening there by allowing the body to make increased amounts of collagen and elastin.

Emblica Phyllanthus Extract: Removes the pink and purple color from the skin surrounding a stretch mark.

Licorice Extract: Is excellent at fighting age spots and discoloration, this is a common ingredient in most stretch mark creams.

Hydrocotyl Extract: Is a natural healer it reduces swelling and puffiness, promotes healing and collagen production.

Bearberry Extract: Is commonly used to reduce the appearance of freckles, age spots, and other skin discolorations. In this case it is used to remove the discoloration surrounding the stretch mark.

Emu Oil: Has amazing healing powers on human skin because of its nearly identical make up as human skin. Emu oil has been linked to many healing claims, however, there is not enough sufficient evidence to prove or disprove this claim.

Any cream that actually replaces the proteins, or peptides, needed repair skin is going to have a positive effect on the appearance of stretch marks. This cream, and few others, actually tries to repair, rather than hide or cover the mark. This cream theoretically should repair the damage left by the stretch mark and also should much more effective than a formula made up of strictly vitamins and moisturizers.

What a rip-off. I ordered the “free trial cream” for $6.95. The next month I received my credit card statement and there was a charge on it for $89.95 . I called the company and they said because I didn’t call them within the 30 day trial period I would be on a plan that automatically shipped each month at a cost to me of $89.95 per month. Now, no where on that web site was there any such claimer. Otherwise I never would have ordered it. So I had to cancel that credit card and have my credit card co. go after the company that makes cosmetyn cream. Funny thing was I never received any other cream in the mail other than the first initial “free cream” but my credit card was charged $89.95. So, buyer beware!!! I used the cream for a month and saw absolutely no change in the appearance in my skin. I say don’t waste your money!! A very dishonest company!!!

But i continue using it cause i love the away that leave my skin..i suggest this cream to anymore! and am going to try there cellulite cream as well. good luck! and remember you have to be persistent use it every day twice a day, and you will see the results and less than what you think.

Hmmm I am concerned about any product that you can’t buy in stores and cannot pay for with cash, debit, or check, only credit card. The small print says that if you don’t send the “free trial” back in 14 days your credit card will automatically be charged 80.00. I am mistrustful of any company that tries to trick me into buying their product under the guise of a “free trial”. I am also not going to bother buying from a website that is too lazy to do a spell check.

I ordered the free trial and my account was charged 78$ and the number on the website was a non working number… Don’t trust these free trials and read the terms and conditions and try all numbers to make sure they are working before you order something you can not return

  14. Daniela says:

I got the free trial too and got very upset when I got charged $89 something dollars the next month but I indeed got the cream plus the cellulite one for “free” I have honestly never been consistent with it so I can’t give my opinion on that, but I called and cancelled and it wasn’t a big deal after that, one of these days I’ll try to start using it and keep doing as it’s supposed to be used and see what happens cause my friends seems to love it. So it’s not a scam, you get the product, you’re charged if you don’t cancel, that’s business and you should read the small prints, I paid for forgetting it, but it was my fault and by no means I think it was a scam. The truth is that if it works, it will be well spent money. Period.

I ordered this product around decemeber. The next month I received a call stating that I would be charged $89.95 because I didn’t cancel my order after the 30 day trial period, saying that I would be on a plan that automatically be shipped each month at a cost to of $89.95 per month. So I cancel my order and now I received a letter in the mail saying that I have a balance of $128.95 due on 5/14/10!?!?!? I cancelled my order when they called me back in January. My letter in the mail says I can call 866-728-1467.
    This is a major scam!
