Finding a true stretch mark cream review is almost impossible in this day and age. So, the easiest way to truly assess a product is by examining the ingredients. Stretch marks are actually a scar deep within the skins layers, and are quite difficult to treat and repair. Many stretch mark creams are extremely over priced and under active. Although there are hundreds of stretch mark creams on the market, there are basically only two differences in the formulas.
There are two main types of stretch mark creams:
The first is generally the most effective, and the highest priced, it is the cream that is going to correct damage left by the stretch mark. It is made up of essential proteins and other complex ingredients that generally start working on contact.
The second is generally a little cheaper and works a little slower; this is because of the formula. The second type of stretch mark cream is made up of vitamins, herbs, and moisturizers the whole theory behind this type of cream is to stimulate the body to do what it will naturally in time. This is resurfacing the surface layer of skin and stimulating the body to produce of collagen and elastin naturally.
There is not one specific type of cream that works for everyone, if there were than there would be no need for articles and reviews such as this one. Reviewing all your options, and examining the ingredients is the best place to start when purchasing any product.
So, what about ZenMed Stretta? What do the ingredients say about it?
ZenMed Stretta is one of the second types of stretch mark creams that takes the all natural approach to minimizing the appearance of stretch marks. The ingredients in ZenMed Stretta are beneficial to the skin. But, as far as being the best or most effective product on the market for healing stretch marks… I think not, but that does not mean that Stretta is non-effective.
It simply means I have reviewed other products that in theory, based completely on the anatomy of the skin and the effectiveness of the ingredients, would work better at helping the skin effectively heal/minimize the mark. Here are some of the ingredients that the company claims make it so effective…
Glycolic Acid: This ingredient is one of the staples of the Stretta formula. The company has stated on their web-site that
“Part of the problem with stretch marks, is that your body cannot properly discharge of the dead skin cells so stretch marks become a permanent fixture”.
While I agree that exfoliating and allowing the skin to regenerate the top layers is an important factor in stretch mark minimizing, it is not what makes the marks permanent. Stretch marks are scars in the dermis layer of the skin; the top layers…the ones you are exfoliating and resurfacing are the epidermis. The stretch mark is a permanent fixture on the skin because it is a scar, and no amount of exfoliating will change this!
Glycolic acid is the most common alpha hydroxy acid found in cosmetic products, it is popular mainly because of the fact that it is the best known and most widely studied alpha hydroxy acid. In higher concentrations it is used by dermatologists as a chemical peel, and is effective at minimizing the appearance of surface layer distrubaces such as acne scars, and age spots or discoloration.
Centillica Asiatica: Is a natural plant extract that is widely used as a natural agent to promote the production of collagen.
These two ingredients are the most active ingredients in the product, there are several other ingredients meant to nourish and pamper the skin. However, the two ingredients listed here are the main active ingredients. From a completely un-biased stand point, and by investigating the ingredients, I have to say that there are other products in this price range that include far more effective active ingredients.
Out of all the stretch mark creams tested, the highest rated stretch mark creams is: Revitol.
